What was life like before you met Jesus?

Before I had a relationship with Jesus I was looking for approval from those around me. I was self-conscious, and deeply cared about what other people thought about me. I knew the name Jesus and my parents brought me to church almost every Saturday. I had gained a lot of head knowledge, but it did not matter at the time because I did not have a relationship with God. Going into high school my oldest brother and sister started attending the Salt Co. Shortly after I noticed a change in them. I realized they had a heart change. I was curious as to why, I even started coming to Veritas off and on, but my heart never changed.

How did you meet Jesus?

Four years later my other brother (who also was involved in Salt) asked me if I would go to Salt with him that night. I knew he would ask me that question so earlier that week I decided to base it off of if I had met anyone or made any friends in my classes since it was my first week of college. I ended up going to Salt. I met a girl who convinced me to sign up for a connection group, and later that semester to go to fall retreat. During the Saturday morning message, I heard a description of Jesus's crucifixion that really resonated with me. Jesus did not want to die, but he knew it was necessary. If there was any other way to save us it would have been done. Jesus was suffering on the cross, because of us, to save the ones who were killing him. In Matthew 26:53-54 Jesus says "Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then should the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so?" He could have stopped it at any moment but he trusted God, and three days later he rose from the dead.

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

That morning I learned that Jesus had died for me, and I am a part of his family now. Ephesians 1:5 says that "he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will." So, because of this, I am a child of God. I am a part of his family therefore I don't have to worry about what others think of me. Jesus gave me my worth. My sins are forgiven because Jesus paid the ultimate price. And now my future is sure in Jesus Christ. I know that he died for me and now I have eternal life.
