What was life like before you met Jesus?

I was baptized as an infant. My mother spoke to me about Jesus and the Holy Spirit throughout each day. I truly believe I met Christ at a very young age. I read a letter my mother wrote to my grandmother in which she told my grandmother what I had said about God coming to me in a dream and showing me heaven but telling me to go back, it wasn't time for me to stay. I did have another dream when I was a little older that I do remember--I met Jesus and He took me on an elevator--first, we went up and everything there was in technicolor--then we went down and everything was in black and white. At that point, I knew I wanted to follow Jesus. There were also 2 pictures that I saw as a child. One was the picture of Jesus knocking on the door--at that time I didn't know the full verse which is Revelation 3:20, what I do remember is seeing Jesus knocking at the door and I opened it. The other picture I remember was Jesus leaning down the side of a hill reaching for a lost lamb, "If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one who wandered off?" That was probably me as a teenager. As I look back I see Him picking me up and carrying me on His shoulders. By the time I married and had children, I was back in the fold and trying to raise my daughters in the same way my mother had raised me.

How did you meet Jesus?

Christ met both my needs and my husband's needs during the time he was in the hospital before passing on. One morning as I entered his hospital room he told me that Jesus was holding his hand. My husband's favorite hymn was In the Garden. My husband was able to spend the last three weeks of his earthly life at home. He usually would face me so we could talk. However, during the last day of his earthly life, he turned in the opposite direction and looked out the window, it was as if he was waiting for Jesus to come and get him. He passed away very peacefully. In my sadness, Jesus gave me peace. John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

Christ meets my needs daily through prayer and Bible study. Although I was baptized as an infant, I believe it is very meaningful to make that decision for yourself. And so I thank Jesus for this opportunity--"Because of the LORD'S great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
