What was life like before you met Jesus?

Before I met Jesus, I was complacent in my own self-satisfying ways. I was unfulfilled spiritually and lacked a true relationship with our Lord. I was depressed, sad, never satisfied, and resentful. I overate, overspent, and overindulged in things that I thought would make me happy and fulfilled.

How did you meet Jesus?

Throughout my life, God has pursued me in many ways, through many people and different situations. Several years ago, my mother became very ill with cancer and I ended up taking nearly a year to care for her in our home. This time off from work, suddenly allowed me to slow down and focus on my relationship with Jesus and God's Word. God's voice was as loud as it's ever been in my life and I began to truly see his perfect promise, saving grace, and forgiveness in Jesus. During this time of concern and anxiety, I found hope and peace in my faith and in God's Word. In his gift of forgiveness, his grace, and his promise of eternal life. It is through this faith that I came to know Jesus. Romans 5:1 says “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

As a result of being saved by Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I fall short in many ways, but I am forgiven and called to pursue a life of holiness. Christ is my savior and my redeemer. By his grace, I have been saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). I desire to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which I have been called. A life worthy of our Lord and his promise of the forgiveness of my sins and everlasting life. 1 John 5:13 says “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
