What was life like before you met Jesus?

I was a major alcoholic and was smoking three packs of cigarettes a day. I was drinking 6 to 7 days a week. The Lord helped me to quit drinking and smoking. I lost good jobs and my license because I drank. I quit smoking cigarettes in 2002 and drinking in 2006.

How did you meet Jesus?

I was saved in 2007, and God has given me a desire to know more of his character and how I can have peace in him alone. I probably would not be alive, if not for God. I have Parkinson's and blamed God for punishing me for the life I lead and things I did. Also, for the people I hurt while drinking. I was like my father, a violent drunk. I now know God is not punishing me. Like my brother used to say, if I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

I have wanted to get baptized for a while now and I feel it is time. God has given me a desire to know him and I am thankful for God saving me. My assurance of life in Jesus cannot be shaken because I can't do anything to make God not love me - Romans 8:1 says "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
