What was life like before you met Jesus?

My parents did a fantastic job raising me in a Christian home, so I can’t say that I remember a time not knowing Jesus since I was a believer and follower at a young age. I can say that my faith has lacked consistency in my life, and one of the hardest parts of my life was in middle school. I lacked self confidence at that age, and I remember I became closed off and never wanted to talk about my faith openly at that time in my life.

How did you meet Jesus?

It was 2012, and I was in 8th grade. My grandpa passed away from a sudden heart attack, and that night my grandma found a handwritten note from him. It was written on the back of an x-ray that he had done on his foot just days before he passed away. It said:

BYE
HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL SOME DAY.
GONE TO HEAVEN, BECAUSE I
TRUSTED JESUS DEATH ON THE CROSS
FOR MY SINS. HE PAYED THE PRICE
I COULD NOT PAY. ONLY BLOOD SHED
FROM A PERFECT SINLESS PERSON CAN
TAKE AWAY SIN. THAT PERSON IS JESUS ONLY. SO NOW WE PRAISE HIM.
HALLELUJAH

He was completely healthy when he died of a sudden heart attack and this note was written less than 2 or 3 days before he died. This was truly a miracle, and one that smacked me in the face as it showed how powerful and real God is.

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

Since encountering my grandfather’s note, I have lived with a new confidence in knowing that I have eternal life. I know exactly where I am going when my time on earth is over, because I also believe in the work that Jesus did here on earth. His two favorite verses exemplify this, they are Ephesians 2:8 and John 3:16.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,”

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
