What was life like before you met Jesus?

In my youth years, I was an avid churchgoer with my family. I attended vacation Bible schools, summer church camps, winter church camps, and went to nationwide youth group gatherings. However, during college, I started to drift away from my faith. I was leaning on human relationships to fulfill my wants & needs. I was jumping from one relationship to the next, determined to think the newest one would be different than the last. I was anxious, unhappy, and empty. Along the way I turned to alcohol, avoiding the inevitable. My life had been heading down a path that ultimately wasn't good for me. The passage, "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground” found in Psalm143:10 is something that the Lord continues to do for me.

How did you meet Jesus?

During my broken relationship, the Holy Spirit spoke to me over a span of weeks. I needed direction however I wasn't sure where to begin. It was in those nights that the Holy Spirit lead me to the scriptures. I opened my phone and began to read and read. I prayed & cried for God to forgive me for my sins. I asked Him to lead me out of the darkness and into the light again. And wow, His guidance was amazing. Shortly after, new opportunities opened for me which lead me to a beautiful place of peace and everlasting love. "This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10. I was able to heal my wounds and walk in abundant light.

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16. Christ in my life has been marvelous. So many new doors have opened for me, including new relationships where He is the focus. He has brought joyfulness and new life into my life. I learn every day I need Him for everything. Now that I have a family of my own, I'm excited to share the Gospel with my little boy and encourage him to walk in faith too.
