I was raised in a Christian home and regularly attended church and Sunday School growing up. It wasn’t until my teenage years that I made a personal commitment to Jesus as my Lord and Savior. As I was lying in bed one night, I felt an overwhelming urge from the Holy Spirit to open my Bible and start reading and understanding God’s Word. This led to a lifelong love of the Scriptures that continues to grow even to this day.
I was baptized as an infant and believe baptism is a sacred and necessary act to be fully obedient to God’s Word. As I became an adult and was blessed with a wonderful, godly wife, we started attending a Christ-centered church that taught baptism of only professing believers. However, I always felt that my original baptism was sufficient to meet God’s commands. As we moved to Iowa, we have been members of two wonderful, Spirit-led churches. Veritas Church, in particular, has been instrumental in furthering my walk with Christ and maturing my faith.
As I recently refocused my study on baptism as a regular attendee of Veritas Church, I wanted to first and foremost be obedient to God’s Word and direction for my life, and I also wanted to be obedient to the church that I know God has led me to be a part of. So, I am honored to share with you my love for Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior, and my desire to glorify God in everything I do, and today that is through public baptism as a professing believer of our wonderful and gracious God.
