You must remember you are not primarily the main recipient of these instructions, these commands were originally written to a group of believers about how to treat one another. However, it is true you should act the same way with those you are in Christian fellowship with. The way you interact with other followers of Jesus does not earn you favor with God, or even prove the favor you have with God - rather, the “One-Anothers” are an expression of the great love that God has loved us with by making us alive together with Christ - by grace we have been saved - and this grace we get to put on display!
