Before Jesus Changed My Life
My life was completely ME-centered for years. Although I was raised in a Christian home and attended church, my focus was solely on ME. What brought ME pleasure, and how can I benefit. This led to a life that, on the outside, appeared perfect to everyone but, in fact, was spiritually empty. My life was consumed with the pleasures of life and the here-and-now mindset. This led to a gradual decline in church attendance and growing distant from God. Less hatred of sin resulted, and I fell into a routine in life that did not glorify God.
How Jesus Changed My Life
Jesus changed my life forever after the death of a friend who was also a peer. His sudden death happened at the same time that I was going through some personal pain, anger, and resentment issues. I felt wrongfully accused and horribly mistreated by others. My wife suggested that we try attending Veritas Church. We had not been attending church regularly. I believe that this entire chain of events is when Jesus saved me. When I had despair, anger, resentment, and was distancing myself from God, Jesus saved me. Jesus showed me through his words how to forgive others. While hanging on the cross in agony, Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing' (Luke 23:34). Jesus changed my heart forever.
My Life After Jesus Saved Me
My life now, after Jesus saved me, is a life that longs to hear God's word, a life that is based on praising God, thanking God, and glorifying God. I have learned how to truly forgive those who have wronged me. Although difficult, I have learned to deal with resentment. I have learned to turn to God FIRST, through prayer, in times of need. With a true belief in Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and the knowledge that he died for my sins and is seated at the right hand of the Father, I am in the most amazing mindset ever. I have Faith that abounds and I wish for my life here on Earth to be an example to others on how to glorify our mighty God. I am so blessed to be drawn to a new relationship with Jesus. I am so much a sinner, and broken, but made NEW by the sacrifice of Jesus with his death and resurrection to atone for all sins. I live each day longing to draw closer to Christ.
