What was life like before you met Jesus?

Before meeting Christ, I constantly sought things to solidify my confidence and identity. I’d look for the answer in school, athletics, hobbies, etc. There was always a constant need to prove myself to others through these activities. But yet, everything always left me feeling empty. When I was left with this empty feeling inside, I would often spiral out of control. Then, I would push even harder to find my identity within these aspects of my life. I would self-destruct mentally, I never felt like I was good enough for anyone or anything. It was a cycle that felt like it would plague my life forever.

How did you meet Jesus?

I started attending Salt Company in February of 2023 and Veritas Church that Spring as well. To say attending these organizations changed my life is an understatement. I knew I wanted to commit my life to Christ after the Veritas Easter Sunday service. At the time I was going through arguably the most difficult period of my life, mentally and emotionally. But, during the service, I had my mind and heart completely fixed on the Word of God. Seeing thousands of people at the same place to worship and praise God was such an incredible sight. It put the spirit of God in my heart, and nothing else has compared to the feeling since. I realized that any doubts or self-confidence issues I may have had were all self-inflicted. My confidence and identity did not need to be defined through everyday activities. I now find my confidence and my identity through Jesus Christ. “...and you have come to the fullness of life in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.” (Colossians 2:10). Because of Christ, I have been brought to fullness. There is no need to prove myself to others or be “good enough” in the eyes of others. I am enough in the eyes of God.

After being saved by Jesus, what is your life like now?

Christ has made an amazing change in my life. Because of Him, I no longer need to prove myself to others and face the same confidence and identity issues. There is something amazing about living this life for God. Working consciously and diligently on changing my daily attitudes has allowed me to embrace him fully. Every day I am striving to create a dependency on God by walking through faith and grace. The amazing community I have encountered at Veritas and Salt Company has kept me rooted in my faith. It’s more than I could have ever hoped to find in a community. Jesus has already won, and God has provided me with all I need to become more. “Fight the good fight of the faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12).
