As a church, we’ve recently let you know about our mission and vision, putting language and clarity to what we’ve always wanted to do as a local body of believers. In order to help us accomplish the mission of “Raise up mature disciples. Send out everyday missionaries. Glorify God.”, we've identified six essential elements of discipleship, things we as a church want to do to help shape a people to be mature disciples and everyday missionaries. We're not saying these are the only things a disciple does. Different churches might put a different emphasis or spin on them. We want to let you know what we mean when talk about developing disciples here at Veritas Church.

“To err is human, to forgive is divine”. Think about the veracity of this quote from the English poet Alexander Pope who penned these words in 1711 in, An Essay on Criticism. It has become a proverbial phrase used often to reflect the human tendency to sin and the divine character to forgive. In other words, human beings commit sins and make mistakes. God forgives us, and we are acting in a Godlike (divine) way when we forgive.

We are going to be going through Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. Paul visited Corinth on his second missionary journey. While he was there, he started a bible school next door to the synagogue, and stayed for about 18 months instructing these new believers and helping them get their church going. However, not long after moving on, Paul receives word about all kinds of problems the new church was having.

But, a lot of people doing the little things make a big difference. I believe the power of simple godliness lived out in the everyday lives of Christians can have a profound impact on a community. As one of your pastors, I want to share five simple, underwhelming personal practices for fostering unity that, if embraced by the people of Veritas, would send forth cultural ripples.
